The Lake District Cruise & Gardens
23rd - 27th May
The Cumbrian Lake District will always delight with it's rolling hills, glistening lakes, pretty villages and abundance of wildlife. We will return to a favourite hotel located in Grange-over-Sands, where we are guaranteed a warm welcome and good food.
We start our first excursion with a relaxing cruise across the second largest of the Lakes, Ullswater. You will have the chance to experience the stunning scenery of the Ullswater valley from a truly unique perspective, with the luxury of a fully stocked bar with refreshments. We will have time in Pooley Bridge for a coffee before we board the boat to Glenridding, and time when it docks to take a stroll by the lake and admire the views.
Our second day out is to Leven's Hall & Gardens, a stunning Elizabethan family house with fine oak panelling, ornate plasterwork and a beautiful collection of furniture, clocks and paintings. Dating back to the 1690's the 10 acres of gardens have the oldest topiary in the world, underplanted with over 30,000 bedding plants, and have been described as "an unexpected gem of breath-taking beauty." The herbaceous borders are amongst the finest found in England, and are a spectacular sight.
On our free day the coach will taxi us into Grange-over-Sands, a quiet resort with an Edwardian flavour. It has some of the finest parks and gardens on the Cumbrian coast, and a seafront promenade overlooking Morecombe Bay.
